Additional Services

The practice is pleased to announce that we are now able to offer additional services from specialised clinicians appointed over the last few months including as part of the creation of the Primary Care Networks.  NHS funding is now being made available to employ these skilled practitioners.  Ventnor Medical Practice is part of the South IW Primary Care Network along with The Bay Practice and South Wight Medical Practice.

• Sarah, our Mental Health Practitioner, is available for telephone consultations most days of the week.  Sarah will be able to assist you by providing advice and strategies and or recommend suitable services / resources.
• Barbara a qualified physiotherapist, is our shared First Contact Musculoskeletal Practitioner (MSK). She is available for telephone consultations and if she deems appropriate, face to face clinics.  Barbara works at a number of practices and works at Ventnor Medical Practice on Thursdays.  Barbara can assist with assessing ailments linked to muscle strain or joint / back problems suggesting treatments and will refer into Secondary Care as appropriate for complex issues and or issues that require longer term treatment.
• The medications team at the Practice has been expanded by the addition of a Pharmacy Technician who works 4 days a week.  Pharmacy Technicians assist the GPs by carrying out reviews of complex patient medications but generally do not have direct patient contact.
• The Practice has been able to offer Social Prescribing services for over a year now and this service has continued to develop and expand during that time.  Social prescribers are able to support elderly and vulnerable patients helping to reduce health inequalities by supporting people to unpick complex issues affecting their wellbeing.
